Seville packing essentials

Seville's historic centre is almost entirely cobblestone — comfortable, well-broken-in walking shoes are the single most important item you can pack. Blisters from the Alcázar to the Cathedral are a genuine hazard for underprepared visitors.

Dress codes at the Cathedral, Alcázar, and churches require covered shoulders and knees. A lightweight scarf or cardigan tucked in your day bag solves this instantly. Summer heat in Seville is extreme — plan sightseeing before 11am and after 7pm in July and August.

Seville's historic centre is best explored on foot. Hire a car only for Andalusia day trips to villages or Doñana — park outside the centre. The city has good public transport and walking distances are manageable.
